School pupils have been out in force to clean up their area.

Year 7 students from Brentwood’s County High School were on Shenfield Common, Brentwood High Street, on Wednesday to litter pick after receiving a litter awareness presentation.

The group, along councillors and the environment team, went out with litter pickers and bags during the clean-up.

On Tuesday, March 5, Year 12 students will be cleaning vegetation and creating insect habitats on the common.

The project is part of the school’s environmental awareness days and it is working with Brentwood Council.

Headteacher Stephen Drew said: “It was amazing the number of recycling and black bags full of litter that were brought back to school.

“I am really proud of our young people and the contribution they have made to their local community.”
