A ‘glow’ glove designed by students has won an international design award.

Students from Brentwood School created GoGlove and beat competition from more than 300 teams, some from as far away as China.

The group was presented with the Virtual Ventura award at a ceremony at the Design Museum, in London last week.

Their brief was to design a product centred around a journey that could be sold for £10.

They made a glowing LED glove designed to help cyclists when signalling in the dark, and was chosen for the top prize because of its innovation and use of modern technology to produce a marketable product.

Judge Sebastian Conran said: “I want to start selling these now!”, while Ruse, from sponsors Deutsche Bank, told the Brentwood team: “The design is beyond excellent”.

Headmaster Ian Davies said: “The team and staff are delighted with the outcome and we look forward to taking part in next year’s competition.”

Design and technology teacher Sam Harvey said: “The pupils have done amazingly well; all their hard work has paid off.

“It is great to see their interest in business, science, textiles, electronics and most importantly design tie together to create such a unique and innovative product.”
