A Brentwood student will be competing in the British BMX Championships this Friday.

Jake Coombs, from Brentwood County High School, qualified over the summer for the championships after success in the regional heats.

Jake, in Year 7, has also been selected to be in the British BMX team for the world championships in Auckland, New Zealand, next year.

Headteacher Stephen Drew said: “In this summer of Olympic and Paralympic sport we at Brentwood County High School are immensely proud of Jake as one of our newest students.

“We salute the dedication and determination required to succeed at such a high level, and wish Jake every success both in the national and world championships.”
