Brentwood School chaplain David Gilchrist has retired after 17 years at the school.
Father David, who will be moving to Dover, has also served parishes in Ilford and Buckhurst Hill.
He said: “I can’t believe I am leaving. It probably won’t sink in until September, when I wonder why I am not back at school! This has been a great place to work and serve.
“I have been teaching a little over a half timetable, with three regular chapel assemblies each week in the senior school, a weekly assembly at the preparatory, and regular visits to the pre-preparatory. So I have the privilege of being with all the children from three through to 18. In addition to this there are special services for the school and occasional services like baptisms and weddings.”
He added: “My priority has always been to be a Christian minister and pastor, and I have relished the opportunity to share the Christian faith in the regular chapel assemblies.”
