Crown street in Brentwood will be padestrianised

Work has started on Brentwood’s Crown Street pedestrianisation scheme today (Monday).

The street, in the town centre, will be closed to through traffic until August 27.

The changes will include the installation of new traffic signs and bollards.

A section of the road will also be closed tomorrow while electrical utility works are carried out from 9.30am to 3.30pm.

County Cllr Rodney Bass, cabinet member for highways and transportation, said: “This pedestrianisation scheme is good news for local residents and businesses in Brentwood, and will help to support the local economy.

“This is an excellent example of a scheme being delivered thanks to funding allocated by one of our Local Highways Panels.

“We will be keeping disruption to a minimum while works to complete the pedestrianisation are taking place.”
