More than 1,000 people came to pay their respects on Remembrance Sunday as Brentwood commemorated those who had sacrificed their lives for their country.
The parade of more than 1,000 people assembled in the town hall car park and made their way to the war memorial on Sunday, November 10.
There was a two minute silence at 11am, after which the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Essex Dennis Rensch and the Mayor of Brentwood Borough Council, councillor Keith Parker, laid their wreaths.
Accompanied by the Brentwood Imperial Youth Band, the parade left the war memorial and went towards the High Street via Shenfield Road.
The Mayor of Brentwood, councillor Keith Parker, said: "Remembrance Day is such an important day for Brentwood with its military connections and I was deeply moved to see so many of the younger generation taking part and showing such respect to those they never knew but who gave their lives for their futures as well as our own.
"It is hard to imagine in this day and age a time where villages and towns would have seen so many of their own wiped out by conflict and this is one reason why it is important we never forget them."
The ceremony was followed by a service of remembrance in St Thomas' Church at 11am conducted by Father Mark North.
Brentwood's parade was a family affair for Brentwood School student Annabelle Hill who marched with her grandfather, Victor Walker, a 94-year-old Normandy Veteran.
Fifth Year Annabelle marched with the school's Combined Cadet Force (CCF) Navy section in the annual civic parade while Mr Walker took his place among the handful of veterans.
More than 200 of the school's CCF cadets took part in the parade on Sunday, and on Saturday November 9, cadets were busy bag packing in Sainsbury's raising funds for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
