A teenage singer from Brentwood has made it to the “boot camp” stage of the most watched Saturday night TV show in the country.

Roxy Yarnold, 19, who works as a pizza maker at a Brentwood High Street takeaway, wowed X Factor judges with a rendition of the American jazz song Georgia on My Mind.

Roxy, who has worked at Domino’s Pizza for three years, said: “I’m always singing at work – sometimes I don’t even realise I’m doing it! – and my co-workers kept saying I should apply, so this year, I thought I’d go for it. I was over the moon to get a ‘yes’ from each of the judges.”

Saif Alani, franchisee of Domino’s in Brentwood, said: “Everyone in the store is behind her and we really hope she does well at boot camp. We will be gutted if Roxy has to leave pizza making to pursue her music career.”

Follow Roxy’s X Factor progress at 8pm on Saturday on ITV1.
