A Brentwood man will be honoured with a London Lifesaver award for saving two lives within nine days.

Roy Tyzack, from Navestock, will given the award at the SADS (Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome) UK National Lifesaver Defribillator Awards on October 20.

The ceremony honours people in the community who have saved lives.

Roy was nominated by his wife Penelope as a result of his prompt action, resulting in the life of a woman being saved.

It happened when Roy was promoting his first responder group at an open garden day when a woman collapsed in the grounds. He did CPR and set up his defibrillator, while co-ordinating someone else to speak to the ambulance service.

Just nine days later he revived Bishop Michael Reid, whose heart stopped three times when he had a cardiac arrest at his home in Pilgrims Hatch.

Anne Jolly founder of SADS UK said: “We are delighted to hear that Roy put his lifesaving training into action when it was needed and lives have been saved as a result of the lifesaving action he has taken.

“We believe this award is richly deserved and we are delighted to be honouring Roy Tyzack at the SADS UK annual National Lifesaver Defibrillator Awards.”
