A man has been detained under the Mental Health Act after reports of an attempted suicide at Brentwood Railway Station this morning.
British Transport Police initially received reports about a man who had been struck by a train after stepping on to the tracks, but the man then got back on to the platform before a train approached at about 6.40am.
Officers said they did not find the man after a search of the tracks and surrounding area, though he was discovered at home where he was detained and taken to hospital for assessment.
Delays were caused along the Greater Anglia line for 90 minutes while emergency services were at the scene.
