A group of Brentwood men is currently on an epic journey to raise money for charity in a 2,200km ride that will take them through the Pyrenees.

Andy Feakins, Simon Thurston, Andrew Craswell, Nick Tyson and Daniel Cocklin are cycling from Denia in East Spain to Hackney in memory of Andy’s brother Stuart.

Stuart, who worked with disadvantaged children in Hackney, died suddenly of pneumonia in Denia in 2008, aged 42.

His mother Dorothy said: “One minute he was dancing. 12 hours later he was no longer with us.” The cyclists are raising money for the Stuart Feakins Trust, which helps disadvantaged children in Hackney, and Great Ormond Street Hospital.

They began their journey on Tuesday and are due to arrive in Hackney on October 2.
