Firefighters were called to cut a bus stop bench in half to release a toddler.

The boy, two, had got his leg trapped in Doddinghurst Road, Brentwood.

The firefighters used a power saw to free him just after 3pm on Monday.

Leading Firefighter John Beale said: “The bench is part of the bus stop and is made up of two wooden slats running longways.

“His mum had laid him down to change him and the boy’s leg had fallen through the gap up to the thigh, trapping him.

“We used the saw to cut the seat and were able to release him quickly.”
