Our Dog of the Week from Wallace Kennels Dog Rescue is 18-month-old Max.

Dee from the kennels in Chivers Road, Brentwood, said: "He has the face of a Westie, the body of a Bassett and he's nicked the legs off a Queen Anne chair.

"He really is short, dumpy and very long.

"Max is dog and cat-friendly but needs a home with either no children or none under 16 years old.

"When visitors/strangers arrive he will initially bark but soon calms down.

You may also want to watch:

"He also likes to have a conversation with you but no malice is meant by it and once you get to know his quirky ways he is rather adorable.

"He knows and understands a variety of commands, house trained, walks well on the lead and travels well.

"He does not like the word NO."

Max has been neutered, vaccinated and chipped.
