Styled hair, pink ladies and petticoats were all out in force as a Brentwood drama group for people with learning disabilities performed the hit musical Grease.

The performance was by members of the Walter Boyce Wellbeing and Activity Centre, in Warley Hill, run by Essex Cares.

Support worker Jane Bridle who helped organise the show, said the 12 performers enjoyed the experience. She said: “We’ve been rehearsing for around a year and put on performances for parents and carers. Both of the shows were brilliant.

“It’s amazing to see how much confidence the group has given our customers.”

Brian Jones is the father of two of the cast members, Ian and Sharon. He explained that their confidence has “vastly improved” as a result of taking part in the play.

He said: “My son in particular can be hesitant at times but being in the drama group lets him demonstrate his abilities, and, very importantly, feel successful along with the rest of the show’s cast.”
