Burglars broke into a house in Shenfield while a teenage girl was studying for her exams.

They forced open the front door of the house in Oliver Road at 3.30pm on Wednesday, June 13.

The girl, 16, was in her bedroom studying when she heard a loud noise downstairs and saw three men in the house. She ran out of the house and told a neighbour.

The burglars were seen running out of the house with a Sony Playstation and a small amount of cash.

The group is believed to have then got in to a small black car.

The first man is described as white with a pale complexion, aged around 19, 5ft 10ins tall, of slim build, wearing a navy hooded top and dark trousers.

The second was of mixed race, shorter and stockier than the first, again around 19-years-old, wearing a grey and blue checked hooded top.

The last suspect is described only as being a white man.

Officers have been advised there was an ice-cream van in the road at the time and are urging this driver to contact them.

DC Tony Tyndall, investigating officer said: “This was a scary time for the girl who was quietly studying at home when these men brazenly broke in to her home by forcing the front door open in the middle of the afternoon. I would urge anyone with information to get in touch as soon as possible.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact DC Tyndall on 101.
