A Brentwood Cathedral choir boy sang for the Queen at St Paul’s Jubilee Service last week.

Harry John, a member of Brentwood Cathedral Choir and a pupil at Brentwood School, was one of 40 young people in the Diamond Choir that sang at the service at St Paul’s Cathedral on Tuesday, June 5.

The service was broadcast live around the world.

The Diamond Choir performed ‘Call of Wisdom’, a new piece written specially for the service by British composer Will Todd.

After the service Harry said: “Singing for the Queen on Tuesday was an unforgettable experience. I was quite nervous before we started singing but I got wrapped in the music once it started.

“The composer Will Todd, was really nice and had been in rehearsals with us and with Mr Carwood, the director of music at St Paul’s, on Sunday and Monday.

“I am happy that it all went so well but sad that it is all over already! I will never forget being a member of the Diamond Choir and singing at the Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s.”

On Wednesday Harry was back in his normal place in the choir stalls at Brentwood Cathedral for the special Jubilee Choral Vespers with the Bishop of Brentwood. Among the music the choir sang was Parry’s ‘I Was Glad’ and Vaughan Williams’ ‘O Taste and See’, both sung at the 1953 Coronation Service.
