Shoppers are expected to be out in force on Black Friday

Keen shoppers are expected to be out from the early hours of Friday morning, as stores offer huge discounts, just in time for Christmas.

This year, experts predict it will be the biggest shopping day of the year.

The Centre for Retail Research estimates sales will reach £1.39 billion across the day as shoppers hunt for bargains.

At Gallows Corner Tesco, in Bryant Avenue, the store will close for five hours to prepare for the sale, before reopening at 5am.

A Tesco spokesperson said: “Our Black Friday event was incredibly popular last year so to ensure colleagues have enough time to set up for the event this year, we will be closing all participating stores at 12am and reopening them at 5am.

“This change will allow us to provide the best possible service to help our customers.”

What do you think of Black Friday? Does it offer the best deals or is too much hassle?
