Eye catching floral displays took over the Rush Green Community Centre on Saturday as dozens of people competed for 1st place at a flower show.

The Rush Green Community Association’s (RGCA) annual competition, in Rush Green Road, saw a number of entries take part and show off their green-fingered skills and the group’s secretary Rose Wilson was clearly impressed by the creations on display.

“The flower displays were excellent, they were beautiful,” said Rose. “It’s quite interesting to see what people can do with a few flowers and their imagination –not like me, I buy a bunch of flowers and stick them in the bath.” First place was scooped up by Mavis Rome and RGCA member Lyn Young thanked all the entrants for their hard work.

“The flowers were absolutely beautiful and quite a few people turned up and they really enjoyed it,” said Lyn.

“The displays were wonderful and they all work hard bless them.”
