In the race to become the next Conservative leader and prime minister, I announced my support for Boris Johnson last month.

The reasons for this are manifold, from his brilliant record in London to his position on Brexit, Boris as our PM will always be a friend of Romford.

I hear time again the increasing concerns about local crime rates, so I ask everyone to have a brief glance at Boris' record as London Mayor.

The ringing endorsement from Bernard Hogan-Howe, the former Metropolitan Police Commissioner, speaks for itself.

As the Mayor of London and therefore in charge of policing in the capital, overall crime went

down by 20per cent, knife crime decreased by 17pc and the murder rate was halved.

These were promises made and most importantly delivered for everyone.

In addition, the London Living Wage was expanded, half a million new jobs were created, and over 235,000 apprenticeships were opened up to our young people.

This is an individual who does not play the blame game utilised by our current Mayor Sadiq Khan, but gets the job done.

This is not a man of empty proposals and trendy programmes which sound good on paper, but someone who can deliver.

Boris has also visited Romford on multiple occasions and was only too keen to visit Romford Market and talk to residents and market trader about the future of our borough.

With a Remain leaning Parliament and a London Mayor presiding over rising violent crime rates, we need a leader who will really listen to the people and put our country first!

Boris Johnson has a clear record of winning and has the ability to restore unity in this country.

I'm backing Boris for Britain - he will make Britain great again!
