With unrepentant Remainer MPs doing their best to take control of the Brexit process, using every legislative trick in the book to frustrate the will of the people, the people of Havering are understandably, angry, frustrated and confused at these Parliamentary games.

I am ashamed at the way some of my pro-EU colleagues have behaved.

I would like to make clear why I voted against the prime minister’s Withdrawal Agreement, and I have made it clear that I intend to do so again if it comes back for a third time, unless there are significant changes.

I still want No Deal and an exit from the EU on Word Trade Organisation terms. That is the best way out for Britain!

The Draft Withdrawal Agreement put forward by the prime minister fails to “take back control” across a plethora of key areas and does not deliver the Brexit Havering overwhelmingly voted for.

The worst part of the deal is the dreaded backstop, which effectively keeps the UK in the EU’s Customs Union.

The United Kingdom would be bound to the EU’s Common External Tariff and be locked into regulatory alignment with the EU, preventing us from becoming more competitive than our EU neighbours, and stop the UK signing free trade deals with the rest of the world.

Most importantly, the backstop would also mean that Northern Ireland is isolated from Great Britain, by being bound to large parts of the Single Market.

The consequence of this is a de facto border down the Irish Sea, which not only threatens the

integrity of the UK, but goes against the PM’s own promises.

I believe we need to leave under WTO rules on April 12, the new “exit day”.

The choice now should be the PM’s deal or No Deal, and No Deal it should be!
