A group of Hornchurch teachers have helped raised 7,500 in four years for charity.
The sporty teachers from Albany School have completed 12 runs including marathons and triathlons between them to raise money for good causes.
The group, dubbed the Albany Runners, run a 10k run every term, and are due to complete their next challenge on October 19. They will also take part in the London Half Marathon on October 28.
Earlier this year Dave Malbon, Andy Dickens, Hether Gubbins and Kieran Nolan completed the London Marathon and raised money for the Samaritans, Macmillan Cancer, Wizz Kids, Brentwood Catholic Vhildren’s Society and Kids Alive between them.
A recent Triathlon raised funds for Arthritis Research and the group included Alison Bartrip, Robyn Hase and Dave Malbon. They each swam 1,500m, completed a 40k bike ride and finished with a 10k run.
Alison said: “I was totally shattered but euphoric when I passed the finish line; it was a gruelling event but the thought of raising money for such a good cause kept me going.”
