A three-vehicle crash on the A127 is causing traffic jams in both directions of the road, extending into Romford.
Essex police said the collision, in a Southend-bound lane, involved a grey Renault Kangoo van, a silver Ford Mondeo and a black Kia Carens.
Lanes in both directions were closed near junction 25 and have now been reopened.
