The Home Office has applied to review the premises licence of an Indian restaurant and takeaway in Rainham after "illegal working" was identified at the site.

A formal application for a premises licence review has been made publicly visible on Havering Council's website, relating to Le Hope Restaurant - located at 25-27 Upminster Road South.

The application was made by the Home Office to the Havering Council licensing team.

The document reads: "The premises licence holder has failed to meet the licensing objective of the prevention of crime and disorder as illegal working has been identified at this premises.

"Full details of the application can be inspected at the address noted below during normal business hours."

Representations can be made in writing until November 11 this year to the licensing authority at the Town Hall in Main Road, Romford.

The application confirms it is an offence to knowingly or recklessly make a false statement in connection with an application.

The maximum fine for which a person is liable on summary conviction for the offence is unlimited.

Looking at Havering Council's meeting calendar on its website, it does not appear to have a date for any licensing meetings regarding this case.

The Recorder phoned the number displayed on both Google and Le Hope's website to offer the restaurant the chance to comment.
