Search the Public Notice PortalA Romford homeowner has been ordered to either demolish or shorten a "front boundary" built allegedly "without permission".
A formal enforcement notice was issued to the property at 205 Pettits Lane yesterday (September 24).
It is due to take effect on October 26 this year unless an appeal is lodged before then.
The council alleged that a "front boundary treatment over one metre in height" has been constructed "without planning permission".
The enforcement notice expresses belief that the breach happened within the past ten years.
It said "by virtue of its height, extent and scale" the boundary represents a "visually intrusive and incongruous form of development, out of keeping with the open character of the streetscene".
It also said “planning conditions attached to any consent would not overcome these problems.”
The homeowner has two options.
They can demolish the front boundary treatment facing Pettits Lane to ground level and remove all debris remaining as a result of the demolition.
Alternatively, they can reduce it so that it is no higher than one metre at any point.
The work must be completed within two months of the notice taking effect.
Anyone with a legal interest in the land can appeal to the Planning Inspectorate before October 26, 2026.
The notice states: “Failure to comply with an enforcement notice which has taken effect can result in prosecution and/or remedial action by the council.”
