Havering schools sending most pupils to university ranked

The latest Department for Education (DfE) destination measures show The Frances Bardsley Academy for Girls is sending the highest percentage of Year 13 pupils in Havering on to a higher education institution, at 78.7 per cent.

The school in Hornchurch also came out top for the highest proportion of students - 97.6 per cent - moving on to university, an apprenticeship or employment overall.

Meanwhile, The Campion School ranked first in the borough for the most young people starting an apprenticeship after their 16 to 18 study, with one in five pupils choosing this option.

The DfE statistics are based on the numbers of students from state-funded mainstream schools progressing to further education, apprenticeship courses or employment after completing 16 to 18 studies.

Although it is the most recent data, published in April 2026, the figures show the destinations for the Year 13 cohort who completed their studies in the 2022/23 academic year.

To be counted in a destination, young people have to be recorded as having "sustained participation" for at least a six-month period.

There are only seven secondary schools in Havering which offer post-16 education, and Harris Rainham Sixth Form was the only institution which did not appear in the data.

The 2024/25 cohort data is due to be released in October.
