Eight new easyJet routes are still set to take off from Southend Airport this year.

The south Essex hub will add the destinations to its autumn and winter schedule, all operated by easyJet, with flights to Munich, Lanzarote, Belfast City, Budapest, Edinburgh, Rovaniemi, Salzburg, and Lyon.

The airport’s latest route announcement was Munich, revealed in July.

Nigel Mayes, business development director at Southend Airport, said at the time: "Passengers from Essex, London and East Anglia can enjoy London Southend Airport’s award-winning customer experience, with short walking distances, fast security processing and excellent rail connections to central London, making the airport an attractive choice for travellers across the region."

The new routes form part of a growing winter schedule that already includes flights to Berlin and Rovaniemi in Finnish Lapland.

Southend Airport was the UK’s fastest growing airport in 2025, recording a 150 per cent increase in passenger numbers compared to 2024.

It also had the best on-time performance of any London airport and ranked fourth in the UK overall.

The airport’s average delay time was the second lowest in the country, at just 10 minutes and 24 seconds.

By the end of this year, Southend will have offered flights to 30 destinations.

The airport’s on-site train station provides direct connectivity to London, with trains to Stratford taking 43 minutes and services to Liverpool Street arriving in just 52 minutes.

Passengers can reach the terminal from the station in just 10 minutes.

The short walking distance, fast security processing, and reliable rail links are key factors in the airport’s growing appeal.
