A global chicken shop chain coming to Romford this autumn has moved a step closer to opening.

Wingstop has applied to Havering Council for a premises licence ahead of its launch at The Brewery shopping centre in October.

The fast food chain, which mainly sells chicken wings and tenders, is hoping to open its Romford branch until 12.30am Sunday to Thursday, and until 2.30am on Friday and Saturday.

The application also includes proposals to sell alcohol until midnight, seven days a week, and serve food indoors and outdoors until half an hour before closing time each day.

Representations can be made about the application until September 7, via licensing@havering.gov.uk or in writing to Licensing, Public Protection, London Borough of Havering, c/o Town Hall, Main Road, Romford, RM1 3BD.

The Brewery confirmed in August that Wingstop would be joining the shopping centre after works were spotted at unit 11, formerly occupied by TGI Fridays.

Centre manager of The Brewery, Stuart Wilson, said at the time: "I am particularly excited to announce that Wingstop is due to open at The Brewery at the end of October, with promotional vinyls going up this week.

"This is a hugely adored brand, and we’re delighted they have chosen The Brewery for their next opening."
