Nine takeaways, cafes and shops in Havering were given the lowest food hygiene ratings in July.
Businesses across the borough were handed the worst possible food hygiene scores last month of zero and one out of five, meaning "major" and "urgent" improvement was deemed necessary.
The firms, ranging from a Chinese takeaway to a vape shop found selling illegal cigarettes, were judged by Havering Council's environmental health team on areas including hygienic food handling, cleanliness and condition of facilities and building, and management of food safety.
All ratings have since been published on the Food Standards Agency website and are correct at the time of writing.
Yellow Shop
Yellow Shop, in Collier Row Road, was rated a one out of five for its food hygiene standards after its inspection on July 1, meaning "major improvement" is needed overall.
Its was hygienic food handling was judged to be "generally satisfactory", the cleanliness and condition of the premises was rated "improvement necessary", while management of food safety was scored as "major improvement necessary".
Kebabish Original
Kebabish Original, also in Collier Row Road, was handed a one out of five for its food hygiene standards after its inspection on July 13, meaning "major improvement" is needed overall.
The takeaway's hygienic food handling and cleanliness and condition of facilities were both rated as "improvement necessary", while management of food safety was scored as "major improvement necessary".
Four Coffee Lounge
Four Coffee Lounge, in Moray Way, was given a one out of five for its food hygiene standards after its inspection on July 13, meaning "major improvement" is needed overall.
The coffee shop's hygienic food handling was rated "good" and its cleanliness and condition of facilities were deemed to be "generally satisfactory".
Only its management of food safety was scored as "major improvement necessary".
RM Mini Market
RM Mini Market, in Mawney Road, was handed a one out of five for its food hygiene standards after its inspection on July 14, meaning "major improvement" is needed overall.
Major improvement was deemed necessary for both hygienic food handling and the management of food safety, while the cleanliness and condition of facilities was judged to be "generally satisfactory".
The vape shop has since been shut down after an unannounced raid, during which more £8,000 worth of illegal tobacco products were discovered.
Collier Wok
Collier Wok, in Chase Cross Road, was handed a one out of five for its food hygiene standards after its inspection on July 16, meaning "major improvement" is needed overall.

Gusto Di Brunch
Gusto Di Brunch, in Mercury Gardens, was handed a one out of five for its food hygiene standards after its inspection on July 20, meaning "major improvement" is needed overall.
