A school in Hornchurch is celebrating "record breaking" GCSE results and "exceptional" grades.
The Campion School, in Wingletye Lane, has today (August 20) celebrated GCSE grades described as "record breaking" by headteacher Paul Larner.
The results have set new records across a number of measures including the school's highest Attainment 8 score, the highest number of results graded 7 or higher and the highest number of results graded 5 or higher.
The school was particularly pleased with "exceptional" English results in which more than four out of five students achieved a grade 5 or higher.
Mr Larner said: "Our students in Year 11 have produced an amazing set of GCSE results and they should be incredibly proud of the effort that they put in to achieve them.
"I am personally very grateful to the staff who, working closely with our families, have enabled the students to break new barriers in their achievement."
Mr Larner said the school is expecting to admit a record number of internal students into the sixth form from September.
Head of Year 11 Michael McDarby said: "Nearly every student within any year group will have their challenges, some in this year group faced some significant issues, but they worked hard on our fundamentals and it has clearly reaped rewards for them."
