A burst water pipe along a major road in Romford has been repaired - but traffic lights will remain in place this weekend.
Lower Bedfords Road has been affected by roadworks for nearly a week while Essex & Suffolk Water (ESW) teams repaired a burst water main.
The water company confirmed on Friday (August 14) that the pipe has now been fixed, however said it is still waiting for the road surface to be fully instated.
Temporary two-way traffic lights, which were installed to allow teams to carry out the repair, will therefore remain in place until Sunday.
In a post on social media, ESW said: "We've repaired the burst water pipe, however we have been waiting for the road surface to be fully reinstated.
"To allow this work to be completed safely, traffic management will remain in place until Sunday.
"Thank you for your patience while we carry out this essential work, and we're sorry for any inconvenience caused."
Drivers should continue to expect delays while the two-way signals are still present, roadworks platform Causeway one.network has warned.
Lower Bedfords Road is one of the main roads along the northern diversion route for the Gallows Corner closure, which follows Noak Hill Road, Lower Bedfords Road, Havering Road and Pettits Lane North.
Although part of Gallows Corner reopened on May 10, the westbound carriageway of the flyover and sections of the A12 and A127 remain closed to traffic.
