A man from Harold Hill has been jailed for burgling a café in Dagenham.

Roy Williams, 54, of Penzance Road, was sentenced to six months in prison after admitting to the burglary Café Sinani on Longbridge Road on May 20.

Williams entered the café as a trespasser and stole several bottles of alcohol to the value of £500.

He also failed to surrender to custody at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on July 20, having been released on bail a month earlier.

The offences were considered so serious that only a custodial sentence was deemed appropriate.

The court noted Williams' "flagrant disregard for court orders" and his previous failure to engage with probation services.

Williams was sentenced at Barkingside Magistrates' Court last Monday (July 27).
