Homeowners across Havering - and a house in multiple occupation (HMO) - faced enforcement action last month.

Havering Council issued six enforcement notices in July - four less than the largest monthly total of 10 handed out in June.

No businesses received notices last month, with the enforcement action instead targeted towards homeowners in Romford, Hornchurch, Harold Wood and Upminster.

Five notices were planning enforcement notices and one was a temporary stop notice.

Below is a summary all of the enforcement action taken in July.

28 Oaklands Avenue, Romford

Havering Council issued a planning enforcement notice on July 3 to the owners of 28 Oaklands Avenue, Romford, after a driveway was laid in the front garden "without planning permission".

It was found to lack "adequate drainage" for surface water, potentially increasing the risk of flooding.

The owners have been ordered to remove the hard surfacing and clear the site by October 3, unless they lodge an appeal by August 3.

128 Haynes Road, Hornchurch

The owners and occupiers of 128 Haynes Road, Hornchurch were also hit with an enforcement notice on July 3, due to a building allegedly constructed without permission, along with concerns over "visually intrusive" air conditioning units.

The notice, which took effect on August 3 unless appealed, requires the owner to demolish or modify the building to match approved plans and complete all remedial works within six months.

Church Road, Harold Wood

Havering Council issued a planning enforcement notice on July 9 for a property in Church Road, Harold Wood, alleging it had been converted into a HMO "without planning permission" and ordering the owner to cease its use.

The notice takes effect on August 7, with the owner given two months to stop using the property as an HMO and a further month to remove en-suites, additional utility meters and any resulting debris.

Wayside Avenue, Hornchurch

Havering Council took enforcement action on July 14 against a property in Wayside Avenue, Hornchurch, ordering the removal of a hip-to-gable roof extension and rear dormer extension deemed "bulky" and "visually intrusive".

The notice takes effect on August 14 unless appealed, with the owners given five months to demolish the extensions and clear away any associated debris.

2 and 2A Cromer Road, Hornchurch

The owners of 2 and 2A Cromer Road, Hornchurch, were served with a planning enforcement notice on July 22 after Havering Council found a driveway had been installed "without planning permission" and without adequate drainage.

They have been ordered to remove the hard surfacing and clear the site by October 21, unless an appeal is lodged by August 21.

223 Roseberry Gardens, Upminster

A temporary stop notice issued on July 27 ordered the owners of 223 Roseberry Gardens, Upminster, to halt excavation and construction works on an "underground garden basement".

The notice took effect immediately, and will remain in force until September 21, while the council investigates the alleged breach of planning control.
