A road in Hornchurch already impacted by council works is facing further disruption after a water pipe burst.
Essex & Suffolk Water (ESW) confirmed that a four-inch water main has burst in Ardleigh Green Road, at its junction with Woodlands Avenue and Haynes Road.
Its teams are on site at the time of writing, with four-way temporary traffic lights in place while repair work is underway.
The water company did not confirm how long repairs are expected to take.
Some customers in the area may be experiencing lower pressure while the pipe is fixed, ESW said, but no customers are without water “at the moment”.
A spokesperson for ESW said: "Our teams are currently on site at the junction of Ardleigh Green Road, Woodlands Avenue and Haynes Road.
"To allow the repair work to take place safely, temporary four‑way traffic lights are being installed at the junction.
"No customers are without water at the moment, although some may be experiencing lower pressure while the repair is underway.
"We’re working as quickly as possible to fix the pipe and restore normal pressure.
"We apologise for any inconvenience caused to residents or road users."
In a post on Facebook this morning (July 22), Havering Council also warned residents to “avoid the area if you can”.
It comes as other roadworks were already underway further along Ardleigh Green Road, with temporary traffic signals installed at the junction with Helen Road.
These works are being carried out by the council and are expected to continue until September.
Drivers have been warned that delays are “likely” for the duration, while Helen Road is also set to be shut until September 7.
