A 28-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving and possession of drugs following a collision in Rainham last night.

Police were called to New Road at around 6.50pm on Friday (July 17) after reports of a crash involving two cars.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: "Officers attended the scene alongside the London Ambulance Service.

"The driver of one car, a man in his 20s, sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

 “The driver of the other vehicle, a 28-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion driving under the influence of drugs and possession of Class A drugs.

"He was taken to hospital as a precaution before being taken into police custody.

"He has since been released under investigation. 

"Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting CAD7420/17JUL26."
