The minimum spend for customers at a supermarket to qualify for free parking at a Romford shopping centre has doubled.
The Brewery has increased the minimum spend for two hours of complimentary parking at Sainsbury’s from £10 to £20.
The change took effect from yesterday (June 24) and is the result of a joint agreement between The Brewery and Sainsbury’s.
It marks the first change to the limit in 26 years.
A spokesperson for The Brewery said: "We can confirm that, effective as of the 24th June, the minimum spend required to qualify for two hours free customer parking when shopping at Sainsbury’s at The Brewery has increased.
"This is the first change to the qualifying spend threshold in 26 years.
"The increase has been introduced following a joint agreement between The Brewery and Sainsbury's to support the effective management of parking and ensure continued availability for customers using the site.
"The Brewery remains committed to providing convenient parking for visitors, with two hours free parking continuing to be available for customers who meet the qualifying spend requirement."
The car park is located at the roundabout where Waterloo Road, St Edward’s Way, and London Road meet.
The site offers a total of 1,767 parking spaces, including 622 on the surface and 1,145 across multi-storey levels.
There are 40 parent and child spaces and 74 disabled bays, 50 of which are on the surface level.
The remaining disabled spaces are split between level one (17 spaces) and level two (15 spaces) of the multi-storey car park.
Motorcycle bays are available on levels one and two of the multi-storey section, just before the entrance to the shopping centre.
The car park operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
According to The Brewery's website, parking is free in the multi-storey car park on Sundays, while surface parking costs £1.
A flat rate fee of £2 applies for parking between 7pm and 7am.
Sainsbury’s customers can obtain their free parking by scanning their receipt at the exit or at a pay station.
Vue cinema visitors can receive four hours of free parking, but only in the multi-storey car park between 6am and 6pm, and must purchase two full-price tickets.
Car registration details must be entered on a validation tablet at the point of purchase inside the cinema.
