A pie and mash shop in Romford is closing temporarily this week "due to the hot weather".
Robins Pie & Mash announced on Facebook that branches in Romford, Chelmsford and Chingford will be closing at 3pm today (June 23) and will be closed all day tomorrow (June 24).
According to the website, the Romford branch usually closes at 4.30pm on Tuesdays and the Chingford and Chelmsford branches close at 5pm.
The Facebook post, shared yesterday, read: "Our Romford, Chelmsford & Chingford branches will be closing at 3pm tomorrow, Tuesday 23rd and will be CLOSED Wednesday 24th.
"This is due to the hot weather which is amplified from our machines & ovens.
"Sorry for any inconvenience caused but our staff need a break from the hot kitchens and have worked so hard this past week with the high temperatures.
"It’ll be nice for them to spend some time at home enjoying the weather too.
"We will be back open as normal on Thursday @ 10am. Thank you for your understanding."
A rare red weather warning has been issued across parts of England and Wales this week.
The Met Office warning affects London, parts of the Midlands and southern England, and will be in place from 9am tomorrow through to 9pm on Thursday.
Parts of Greater London are expected to hit highs of 37 degrees on Wednesday.
The Robins business was founded by Harry Robins who passed the business to his son William.
The business has remained in the hands of family and was later run by William's daughter June Robins who took the reins at 27-years-old and remained until her death in 2019.
Today, June's children and grandchildren run the six branches.
Julie and her daughter Claudia own the Romford, Chingford and Chelmsford shops with Julie’s siblings owning the other three at Southend, Basildon and Wanstead.
