A secondary school has reacted to the death of a 12-year-old pupil in Brentwood.
Shenfield High School said it is "extremely saddened" by the news, after Essex Police responded to reports of a crash involving a vehicle and child in Pilgrims Hatch on June 7.
Officers and paramedics attended the scene in the Ashwells Road area, where a 12-year-old boy was wound suffering serious injuries.
He was taken to hospital where he died a short time later.
He has since been named locally as Bobby Bloomfield, understood to have attended the secondary school as a Key Stage 3 student.
A spokesperson for the school said: “We are extremely saddened to learn about the death of one of our pupils. This has come as a shock to us all, and we send our deepest condolences to the pupil’s family.
"We are supporting our pupils, staff and wider school community. As there is an ongoing police investigation, we are unable to comment further at this time."
Bobby's loved ones are being supported by specialist officers.
A 15-year-old boy and a 43-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of murder.
