A sushi restaurant with a "live kitchen" where you can see your food being prepared is opening its doors in its "perfect" Romford location this weekend.
The Sushi Co is holding a grand opening event at its new branch at 67 South Street on Saturday (June 13).
The unit has been fully refurbished and includes The Sushi Co's "live kitchens" which allows customers to watch their food bring prepared.
The grand opening event will include Japanese Taiko drummers, a balloon artist, temporary tattoos and 500 sushi rolls given away for free, according to a company spokesperson.
Toheed Ahktar, manager of the new branch, said Romford was "the perfect place" for the brand to continue its expansion.
He said: “This area is known for being lively from early till late - people want good food and fun dining experiences all day long, from quick lunches to early suppers and late-night bites before and after movies.
"We are delighted to be arriving here and joining the local community.
“No other high street sushi restaurants include live kitchens where you can see the food being prepared, it’s one of the reasons we’re so popular, as people really value fresh ingredients and kitchen skills when it comes to this cuisine.
“Our point of difference is that our food is fresh in minutes.
"Ours is made fresh to order, every single time.”
Signs for The Sushi Co were spotted at 67 South Street in early May.
The unit was previously occupied by former ladies footwear and and accessories shop Parmars, which closed its doors on January 10 this year.
The reason behind the store's closure was never confirmed.
Toheed added: "We knew this site in Romford would be perfect for our offering as it is right in the thick of all the action - next to the shopping centre, near to the cinema and with great passing traffic.
"It’s also got enough room for seating as well as space for click and collect.
"Romford is such a great town and we can’t wait to deliver our popular sushi to its residents, either at the venue or delivered at home."
This is the Sushi Co's 33rd outlet and the spokesperson confirmed there are plans in place to open nine more this year.
