Spring is the perfect time to get outside and explore - and we have rounded up five walks in Havering to help you do just that.

Fresh air, blossom on the trees, and maybe a bit of sunshine all make for a peaceful stroll, especially combined with Havering's beautiful green spaces.

If you need some extra inspiration for the bank holiday weekend, or for the remainder of spring, below are five of the highest-rated routes in the borough according to average public scores on walking site AllTrails.

Hornchurch Country Park Inner Circular

This route is the best-rated in the borough, scoring 4.4 stars out of five on AllTrails.

At more than 10 km long, the route is deemed to be of moderate difficulty and will take walkers around two-and-a-half to three hours.

AllTrails said: "This is a beautiful trail taking you to explore Hornchurch Country Park, Ingrebourne Hill, and a section of the Ingrebourne Marshes Site of Special Scientific Interest."

London LOOP: Section 24 - Rainham to Purfleet

This 8.2km walk will take you just outside the Havering border, past marshland and the Thames in around two hours.

It forms the final section of the London Outer Orbital Path, and is rated 4.3 stars overall on AllTrails.

Starting and finishing at train stations, it is easily accessible by public transport and described as an easy difficulty.

Hornchurch Country Park Circular

For those who want a shorter walk in Hornchurch Country Park, this easy route takes in the River Ingrebourne, a fishing lake, and woodland paths in the park.

It is rated 4.3 stars on AllTrails and will take walkers around an hour to an hour-and-a-half to complete.

AllTrails adds that it is an "amazing" place for birdwatching and wildlife spotting.

London LOOP: Section 23 - Upminster Bridge to Rainham

Another earlier part of the London LOOP, is the route which take you from Upminster Bridge station, along scenic paths through Ingrebourne Valley Local Nature Reserve and then on towards Rainham where the trail ends at the train station.

This 'easy' walk will take you around one-and-a-half to two hours to complete and is rated 4.3 stars on AllTrails.

Those who are feeling adventurous can even go on to Purfleet along section 24.

Harrow Lodge Park Circular

The shortest route in the list, Harrow Lodge Park Circular will only take between 30 minutes and an hour to walk and is rated 4.2 stars.

Described by AllTrails as a "pleasant park trail", the route traces the edge of Harrow Lodge Park, offering scenic paths through the trees and a chance to stop for refreshments along the way.
