A man has admitted causing the death of a father, who “lit up every room”, in a crash on the A12.
On October 22, 2024, Essex Police was called to a crash involving three cars – a grey VW Polo, a black Mercedes E220 and a grey Mercedes CLA 200.
The crash happened on the A12 in Essex, a major route used by drivers travelling to and from Romford.
Despite the best efforts of paramedics, 58-year-old Norman Case, who was driving the VW Polo, died at the scene.
Ismaeel Malik, 22, of Bledlow Ridge in High Wycombe, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and later charged.
He appeared in court today (March 26), where he admitted the offence.
In a statement, Norman’s wife Sarah paid tribute to a “genuinely kind and thoughtful man” who loved life, his family and his friends.
She said: “Everyone loved Norm, he had a smile that lit up every room.
“He had time and a nickname for everyone.
“He adored being a dad and was strict but fair.
“He loved spending time playing sport with Fraser and Kate and enjoying daddy daughter days.”
She added: “After dropping Fraser and Kate at the school bus stop, they would never have imagined not seeing their father alive again.
“Norm was the life and soul of our family. Now there is a massive void that will never be filled.”
Malik is due to be sentenced on April 29.
