A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder after a stabbing at Romford train station followed a "knife fight" in the street.

Police officers were initially called to a brawl outside Street Kebab on South Street at around 5.30pm on Thursday (March 19).

Whilst travelling to the incident, the officers received further reports of a stabbing at Romford train station.

A 16-year-old boy was rushed to hospital by paramedics “as a priority”.

The same boy was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and remains in hospital under police guard.

His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or changing.

Today (March 21), a police spokesperson has confirmed a 19-year-old man was arrested yesterday (March 20) on suspicion of violent disorder.

He remains in police custody at this time.

Police are continuing to search for other suspects.

A Met spokesperson said: “On Thursday, 19 March at around 17:30hrs, police were called to reports of a fight involving a knife on South Street, Romford.

“While travelling to the incident, officers received further reports of a stabbing at Romford train station.

“Officers attended alongside the London Ambulance Service.

“A 16-year-old boy was assessed at the scene and taken to hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life changing.

“The same boy was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.

"He remains in hospital under police guard.

"A 19-year-old man was also arrested on Friday, 20 March on suspicion of violent disorder. He remains in police custody.

“Enquiries continue to trace further suspects.

“Anyone with information or video footage is asked to call police on 101 quoting CAD6005/19MAR.”
