A man has been charged with causing the death of two people by dangerous driving in a crash on the A13 in Rainham.

Laimonas Narvydas and Kalin Hadzhiev died in a collision close to the Ferry Lane Interchange on February 14 last year.

Nerijus Kuneckis, 50, of Olive Road in Plaistow, will appear at the Old Bailey charged with causing their deaths by dangerous driving.

He is alleged to have been driving an Audi Q5 which Laimonas, 37, was a passenger in.

The Audi was involved in a collision with another vehicle which then collided with a Honda Jazz which Kalin was driving, an inquest previously heard.

Both Laimonas and Kalin were pronounced dead at the scene.

Kalin, a 45-year-old Bulgarian dad-of-two who lived in Chafford Hundred, was described in a fundraiser as a person who “helped anyone in need without expecting anything in return”.

Laimonas, a 37-year-old Lithuanian man who lived in Collier Row, was described as a “beloved" partner and dad to a 10-year-old daughter.

Kuneckis will appear at the Old Bailey on March 23 for a plea and trial preparation hearing.
