A kebab shop in Romford has been told "major improvement" is needed after a "foul drain smell" was discovered at the premises.
Street Kebab, in South Street, was handed a one out of five for its food hygiene - the second lowest rating - following an inspection by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) on January 12.
A Freedom of Information (FOI) request submitted by the Recorder has now revealed the full food hygiene report for the takeaway, which highlights that the management of food safety needs "major improvement".
The inspector said that a documented food management system was not available on the day of the visit, ordering Street Kebab to "keep records to prove you carry out proper checks".
The takeaway was also told to provide an allergen matrix for all menu items and ensure staff are trained in food safety.
A "foul drain smell" was discovered in the side storage area - with no clear source.
The inspector said in the report: "Identify source and remedy as necessary.
"The wash basin was full of utensils and obstructed.
"It must be kept clear and available for use."
As well as this, the inspector found that "lots of prepared and decanted food was unlabelled", so that the name, date and allergen details were unknown.
The report concludes that a revisit will be carried out as a result of the poor rating, but does not specify when.
