The entrance road into one of Havering's largest parks is set for repairs after complaints about its "absolutely appalling" condition.
Havering Council has confirmed it expects short-term repairs to be carried out along the driveway of Bedfords Park "over the next month", with long-term improvements also in the pipeline.
It follows reports from residents of the road's "terrible state", as well as photos capturing a number of potholes dotted along the half-mile stretch between the entrance gate and the visitors' centre.
Romford resident Michael Speakman-Bell said the driveway is "so bad" he has been put off visiting the park - somewhere he would normally go every week.
Michael told the Recorder: "The road up there has been slowly, slowly getting worse and worse.
"It is so bad that people can't hardly get up and down anymore.
"I can't go down there anymore - I'm not risking my car down there and it's a four by four.
"I'm not going to the park anymore until that road's done.
"It's absolutely appalling."
Another resident Ian Plowman said: "The main driveway in to Bedfords Park is in such a terrible state with potholes more or less the whole length of the driveway.
"It's like driving an obstacle course and I'm sure it's putting people off visiting the park."
The council told this paper it is aware of the driveway's condition and thanked residents for reporting any issues with the borough's roads and pavements.
A spokesperson for Havering Council said: "The condition of the driveway is something we are aware of and we are currently in the process of arranging short-term repairs and expect these to be carried out over the next month.
"We are also in the process of securing funding for long-term improvements to the drive which will involve complete re-surfacing.
"We thank residents for reporting issues with any roads and pavements as it helps us to ensure they are maintained for safe and easy travel across the borough."
