A school's festive fundraiser has set a new record for donations after every pupil joined in.

Hacton Primary School in Hornchurch raised £7,090.83 during its Reindeer Run, the highest amount ever collected by a school for the King George and Queen’s Hospitals Charity through this event.

Every student in the school took part, including children from nursery, reception, and Years 1 to 6.

Sarah Pittaway, office team member and the main organiser of the run, said: "The school wanted to take part because the charity is so close to all of our hearts.

"It supports our local hospitals and our local community.

"I think that’s why the fundraiser did so well because everyone at some stage will have used the hospitals or knows someone who has.

"The children really enjoyed themselves and it was a great bonding experience for the whole school – we can’t wait to take part again next year."

The Reindeer Run, held in early December, encouraged children to walk, run, skip, or join a Christmas colouring activity, all while wearing reindeer antlers they designed themselves.

Among the standout fundraisers were Dexter Pertkiewicz, a Year 6 pupil who set up an online JustGiving page, and Reception student Omkar Patel, who individually raised more than £700.

The funds will help the charity provide Christmas gifts to patients.
