Langton Gardens is a public park, forming part of the Langtons Conservation Area, and home to several Grade-II listed buildings.
This includes a grand neo-Georgian manor house, which was built around 1760.
According to Havering Libraries, it was likely built on the site of a much older house, known in the 15th century as Marchauntes.
It now provides the setting for numerous weddings.
The historic gardens have featured on Havering Council's weekly planning list, having been identified as the site for a new proposal.
An application, made by a Mr Lewis Reynolds, is seeking planning approval for the "change of use of existing outbuilding from storage to cafe, including associated alterations."
Part of an outbuilding on the grounds of the venue is currently in use as a cafe.
Further details have been provided in a design and access statement, revealing plans to bring the remaining internal area of the outbuilding that is currently "unused storage" into use for the cafe.
This, Mr Reynolds hopes, will create "a fully utilised building for visitors to the gardens".
A decision is set to be made by January 26.
