Brentwood Council new electric truck to clear up fly-tips

A new 7.5-tonne fully electric tipper truck will be helping to clear up fly-tipped mess in Brentwood.

Brentwood Council said the lorry, complete with a tail lift, is set to boost operational efficiency and help work towards the target of achieving carbon neutrality by 2030.

The council secured the eco-friendly vehicle in partnership with its manufacturer, with the purchase cost offset by the £16,000 government plug-in truck grant.

The tipper will tackle various essential tasks, including responding to reports of fly-tipping and helping out with waste container deliveries.

Councillor David Worsfold, chair of the clean & green committee, said: "This investment builds on our commitment to sustainability and helps us work towards our target of achieving carbon neutrality by 2030.

"There are the benefits of improved air quality with zero tailpipe emissions, lower running costs compared to diesel vehicles and by increasing our fleet of vehicles - we’re also improving the efficiency of our services."
