It might be November but Christmas has already arrived in Romford as grottos, lights and giant snow globes have popped up across the town centre.

With just more than a month to go until Christmas, Romford is beginning to feel very festive indeed - as decorations are dusted off at the town's shopping centres in particular.

At The Liberty and The Mercury, giant star lights and multicoloured baubles hang from the ceiling and adorn the walkways, while a Christmas tree marks the entrance to The Liberty's grotto.

Santa's Ice Kingdom Grotto at The Liberty will open this Saturday (November 15), with a free Christmas parade featuring acrobats, stilt walkers and marching bands running between 11am and 3pm.

All proceeds from the grotto - which runs on select dates until Christmas Eve - will be donated to St Francis Hospice.

Meanwhile, The Mercury has already welcomed back the longest-running grotto in Havering, which will be open daily until Christmas Eve.

New for this year, visitors can take an enchanted elevator ride to meet Santa in the North Pole, while dog owners are also invited to join in every Wednesday.

At Romford Shopping Hall, a giant snow globe has been installed, giving families the chance to play in the snow before receiving a gift from Mrs Claus.

Another giant decoration, in the form of the Romford Reindeer, has also arrived in South Street - courtesy of the Romford Business Improvement District (BID).
