A young man from Harold Wood has been warned to expect a prison sentence after he pleaded guilty to driving a stolen car dangerously in Essex.

Tyler Rogers, 21, of Retford Road, entered guilty pleas to three offences at Basildon Crown Court on Friday (October 31).

He admitted dangerous driving on the A127 through Basildon on March 3 in a VW Golf.

He also admitted handling stolen goods in relation to the car, and causing criminal damage to the car.

A defence barrister said Rogers was of previous good character and requested a probation pre-sentence report be ordered.

“What you have pleaded guilty to is very, very serious indeed,” Judge Samantha Cohen told Rogers.

“I have to tell you that by far the most likely outcome of the sentencing will be an immediate custodial sentence.

“But the court wants to know a lot more about you before making that decision, so for that reason I will adjourn for a pre-sentence report with all options available.”

She scheduled the sentencing for December 10 and allowed Rogers to go free on bail until then, with a condition that he must reside in Retford Road unless the court permits him to move.

“I recommend that you prepare yourself to go to prison,” the judge told Rogers on his way out of court, prompting his mother to begin crying in the public gallery.

“Obviously, this is an upsetting event for everybody,” she added.
