We have rounded up five autumnal walking routes in Havering for you to try as we enter the new season.

The leaves on the trees have begun to change colour and the mornings are becoming increasingly crisp and picturesque - perfect for autumnal strolls.

These are five of the highest rated routes in the borough according to average public scores on walking site AllTrails.

Havering Country Park Circular

With a 4.4 out of five star rating on AllTrails, Havering Country Park Circular is deemed one of the best routes in the borough.

At 3.2km long and with an estimated duration of 30 minutes to one hour, it's described as an "easy wooded trail".

The walk can begin or end at the Orange Tree Pub in Orange Tree Hill.

Walkers who opt to begin at the pub will then head west through the country park.

AllTrails said: "There is plenty to look at from the beautiful, tall trees to the open countryside."

Havering Country Park Mile Long Plantation

If the Havering Country Park Circular route was too short for your liking, you could try this longer adaptation of the route - the Mile Long Plantation.

AllTrails claims this route would take between two hours and two and a half hours over 8.5 kilometres of land.

This route starts at Wellington Ave and goes west.

Walkers will make their way through Foreberry Wood north and follow the River Rom briefly, then go through Mile Long Plantation and Hainault Golf Club as they find their way back.

This route also has a 4.4 average rating.

"An ideal route for ramblers of all skill levels and those wanting to feel closer to nature in the woods."

That's how AllTrails describes the Harold Wood and Pages Wood Circular journey in the east of the borough.

It has a 4.3 average rating.

It is estimated to take one to one-and-a-half hours to complete and stretches cyclically across 5.5 kilometres of land.

The route's latest review came on September 15 when someone commented: "Little bit hilly in places, but overall a lovely trail to follow."

Also with an average AllTrails score of 4.3 is the route round Ingrebourne Valley, Ingrebourne Hill, and Hornchurch Circular.

This is the longest route on the list with an estimated completion time of two-and-a-half to three hours and it spans just less than 12 kilometres.

This trail combines parkland, and riverside scenery taking walkers along the River Ingrebourne, through Ingrebourne Valley Local Nature Reserve, Berwick Glades and Woods, Ingrebourne Hill, and Hornchurch Country Park.

AllTrails said: "Enjoy beautiful views, scenic paths, and keep an eye out for wildlife, including a wide variety of birds, but take care on the rougher sections, especially in wetter conditions when the paths are muddy and slippery."

London LOOP - Section 23 - Upminster Bridge to Rainham

The London Outer Orbital Path (LOOP) is a 24-part trail winding around Greater London and section 23 sees walkers start at Upminster Bridge station and finish at Rainham station.

All Trails explains that the trail winds along "scenic paths" through Ingrebourne Valley Local Nature Reserve, Hornchurch Country Park, and Ingrebourne Hill.

The route is 7.4 kilometres long and may take walkers between one-and-a-half and two hours.

It is rated 4.3 out of five stars.

Earlier this year one hiker commented: "The walk through Ingrebourne Valley Nature Reserve was particularly attractive."
