A Gidea Park mum died after consuming prescription drugs and a toxic liquid, a court has heard.

Manisha Amin, of Heath Park Road, was found unresponsive at a property in Holt Road, Harold Hill, on July 28.

An inquest was opened into her death on September 17, after a toxicology and pathology report established her cause of death as acute respiratory depression and coma.

Senior coroner Graeme Irvine told the court that "it was reasonably arguable" that the 55-year-old's death "was not a natural death", with tests returning results for codeine and methanol toxicity.

Mrs Amin's husband and son were in attendance at the inquest opening.

It was reported at East London Coroner's Court that Mrs Amin's death had been handed over in a referral from the Metropolitan Police.

Officers had been dispatched to the scene by the London Ambulance Service after the 55-year-old was discovered.

Mrs Amin's family have been recorded as a person of interest, with Mr Irvine requesting a character statement and report.

Mr Irvine addressed the family, adding he would like "basic bullet point chronology about Manisha's movements before her death".

Logs from the ambulance service and police, as well as details of any mental health treatment the 55-year-old was receiving have also been requested.

A full inquest is provisionally scheduled to take place on April 9, 2026.
